Honors Students Study Abroad

book
"Studying abroad is an invaluable experience that can both fit into and complement the honors program. It testifies not only to academic enrichment, but also to confidence, personal growth, and an ability to adapt to diverse situations. Plus, studying abroad is a great way to find inspiration for your CHP senior thesis, as I did during my stay in France."

Recommendations:

  • Best time for CHP students to study abroad: fall of junior year, full year junior year, or fall of senior year
  • Take Honors Core courses early, before going abroad - Take Social Science Core and Science Core sophomore year - many students already do
  • Find a research advisor prior to studying abroad, even if you won't do research until you return
  • Discover or enhance your research topic while abroad
  • Most cost-effective to go during the school year
  • Enhance your resume - very helpful when applying for awards, scholarships, achievements, grad school, medical school, etc
  • Find suggested programs for your major
