LESSONS FROM ABROAD:  Study Abroad Returnee Conference – Register Today!
At UC San Diego on Saturday, February 26, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
15 UCI students participated in the fall conference.  They found it to be beneficial both personally and professionally.  At the conference you will reflect upon your experiences abroad, lessons learned, and skills gained; network with students and professionals; and consider future opportunities at home and abroad.  Your registration fee covers the cost of lunch and conference materials ($10 in advance; $15 on-site).

Global Leadership Certificate Program (GLCP)

UC Irvine Extension's Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate Program
Prepare to get jobs teaching English abroad.  This 10-week summer intensive program allows you to earn your certificate in a consolidated amount of time and gives you the quality training you need to teach with confidence.  Valuable benefits include the opportunity to practice-teach with visiting international students, job referral assistance, and post-program staff support.  Learn more at upcoming information sessions.

Global Health Research Travel FellowshipsApply by March 31, 2011
The Global Health Travel Fellowship for undergraduates assists students in conducting short-term disease-related research in international field sites. Awardees must have the support of a mentor at UC Irvine.  Three awards are available for undergraduate students.  The project should be completed during summer 2011, or one quarter in the academic year of 2011-2012.  Program guidelines and application instructions are at the above link.

UCEAP Research Award $1000Apply by May 2, 2011
These awards recognize undergraduate students who have distinguished themselves through their excellence in research conducted while abroad on EAP.To be eligible you must complete a final paper on your research by the end of spring quarter 2011.  More details at the link above.

International and Global Studies ClubMeets every other Wednesday
ISGS ClubCome join discussions with peers and faculty on topics of international and global interest.  Past topics have included:  Failed States and the Importance of the Nation-State in Global Politics; International Political Economies; Drugs, Crime and Gangs:  Are We Responsible?  The club meets every other Wednesday on even weeks of the quarter and each meeting features a different international topic.  The next meeting is February 23.

The International Club
Make friends from all over the world! The International Club is a social club designed to bring together international students and domestic students through activities, events and excursions. 

    • Join us at the International Club Kick Back at the Palo Verde Clubhouse on Friday, March 4th from 8pm-12am.  Everyone is welcome to come and mingle with international and American students. Details on Facebook at the above link. 
    • iClub is currently seeking cabinet members for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year.  Open positions include President, VP, and other positions. English Conversation ProgramMeet international students every Monday! 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the International Center
The English Conversational Program allows international students to improve conversational skills while discussing current events in small groups.  Meet international students and scholars from around the world and gain exposure to multiple perspectives on current events, both local and global.  Everyone is welcome!  For more information contact the International CenterNote:  No meeting Feb 21 due to President’s Day Holiday.

Every Thursday night at the Anteater Pub & Grille in the UCI Student Center.
Meet international students, study abroad returnees, residents from the International Village, members of the International Club and more!  Everyone is welcome!  International Students over 21, be sure to bring your UCI ID and passport to be served.


Are you tired of talking about your time abroad with friends and family and seeing their eyes glaze over? Below are some ways for you to get a captive audience and share about your experiences with people who want to hear it.
  • Join Us On Facebook  Show UCI students what YOU did abroad! Post your photos, videos, blogs, stories, and more on the Anteaters Abroad page on Facebook. This is an easy way to promote study abroad at UCI and could quite possibly inspire someone else to take their journey!
