You will get the chance to gain leadership and communication skills by leading small group discussions. English Conversation Program FacilitatorJoin now!
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 4pm-5pm
Meet students from around the world.  Further your cultural insight, build relationships and appreciate our diverse campus community at ECP! Serve as an English Facilitator and assist international students with building their conversational English skills.  Each week, you will participate in one-on-one pairings, group activities and more. iClub
International Club (or iClub) is a UCI student club designed to bring together international and domestic undergraduate and graduate students through fun and constructive social events. Past events have included bonfires, hikes, Thanksgiving dinners, pub nights, and game days. The club has members from all over the world, and includes both UCI undergraduates and graduate students. Communication Club (conversation partners) - Join for the fall!
Be a conversation partner for a UCI Extension international student, September through early December. Live in the International House in Arroyo Vista
Will you be a student at UCI the 2016-17 academic year? Then choose to live in Arroyo Vista’s International House. The International House is a living-learning opportunity for students who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of different cultures, share international perspectives, and build friendships with students from around the world. Half of the residents in the International House are international students and half are students from the U.S. The house offers a wide variety of cross-cultural activities and learning experiences, including special dinners, culture nights, holiday festivities, intramural sports, and specialized academic course offerings.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)
Get Involved in Research Workshops, multiple dates beginning September 30

Did an international topic spark your interest while abroad?  Plan a faculty-mentored research project on your international area of interest.  Opportunities are available to apply for research funding, for publication in the UCI Undergraduate Research Journal, and to present your research at the annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium.  Visit the UROP website (above) for details, including workshop registration.

Global Connect Internship – Teach global issues to high school students
Application due: September 23
Share your global spirit and spread your global knowledge to others. Become an academic intern to teach interactive workshops on concepts that define the 21st century, such as global trends, borderless social issues, and the multi-dimensional themes of globalization. Global Connect is an educational initiative that partners with secondary schools to teach a course on Globalization and International Relations.   Global Connect interns earn 2 units P/NP.   Application required.  More information on the web or contact Jessica Chan at jjchan@uci.edu

Civic and Community Engagement Minor – Join today!
The Civic and Community Engagement minor gives you the knowledge, skills, and values to be agents of change in “your” community - whether you see it as local or global.  Learn how to effectively contribute to the mission of community organizations for social change and connect with other students like you.  You can start the minor by enrolling in Introduction in Civic and Community Engagement (University Studies 10) winter quarter.  Information on how to declare the minor on the web site.

Global Medical TrainingFall Quarter, Thursdays 5-6pm
Join our family by helping impoverished communities in Central America during summer and spring break! During the year, we teach students how to interact with patients, apply basic medical skills, such as taking blood pressure. Throughout the year, you will be able to interact with past trippers, listen to guest speakers, do community service events, and enjoy socials with our members. U.S. Department of State Student Internship Program (unpaid) – Summer Internship Deadline: October 16
This program offers U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to participate in 10-week, unpaid internships that provide intensive educational and professional experience within the environment of America’s principle foreign affairs agency. Internships are available at many of the over 265 U.S. embassies, consulates and missions to international organizations around the world, as well as at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and other locations throughout the U.S. Participants gain first-hand, hands-on experience, and learn the realities of working in – and with – Foreign and Civil Service professionals who are at the forefront of America’s diplomatic efforts.

You've been abroad - now gain hands-on experience interning in a globally-focused internship in your own backyard. Internships are available in virtually any field, including internship sites such as Amnesty International, Interpol, Center for International Policy, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Citizens for Global Solutions, US State Department, and many, many more!

  • Be in the Student Spotlight on our home page.   We would love to include YOUR story.  Take a look at the short list of questions on EEE and respond to those that pertain to you.  These Student Spotlights motivate UC Irvine students of today and tomorrow to follow in your foot-steps and make the life-changing decision to study abroad!
