Study Abroad Returnee Seminar Come to the first meeting for winter quarter!
Wednesday, January 11 at 3:30 p.m. in HH 242
This 1-unit seminar is for recently returned study abroad participants who don’t want the study abroad experience to end and want to know how to keep it alive within you.  Reflect on what you’ve learned and discover how to move forward in job searching, further education and personal development – right now and into the future.  You are welcome to come to the first meeting of the class and then determine if this seminar will fit into your schedule and plans for on-going international learning.  Contact the Study Abroad Center for the course enrollment access code the first week of winter quarter.

International Welcome (Back) Breakfast - FREE FOOD!
Tuesday, January 10th, 9:30-11:00 a.m. in front of Student Services II in the outdoor plaza
(or in 1010 if it is raining or cold).
Welcome back to UCI! Come meet and welcome the new international exchange students and welcome back fellow UCI students who have recently returned from abroad for a FREE BREAKFAST! Bring friends, make friends, eat and be merry! RSVP and see who else is coming. See you there!

LESSONS FROM ABROAD: Study Abroad Returnee Conference
In the San Diego area during winter quarter – exact date TBD (Approximately a 1-hour and 30 minute drive from UCI.)

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) - Research Abroad Fellowship!
Get Involved in Research
Workshops, multiple dates beginning January 12

Did an international topic spark your interest while abroad?  Plan a faculty-mentored research project on your international area of interest and apply for the new UROP Research Abroad Fellowship for research funding.  Opportunities are also available for publication in the UCI Undergraduate Research Journal and to present your research at the annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium.  Visit the UROP website above for details, including workshop registration.

Join the Minor in Civic and Community Engagement - Enroll in Intro to Civic and Community Engagement, Uni Stu 10 in Winter quarter
Take what you have learned abroad and put it into community action and public service here at home.  Develop knowledge, skills, and values to be agents of change in your community. The minor is open to all undergraduate majors on campus. 

UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship
Application Due:  February 15, 2017
This scholarship supports exceptional students who are committed to advancing the values of compassion, contemplation, courage, interconnectedness, collaboration, humility and service who want to design and launch ambitious "compassion-in-action" projects in the areas of promoting cooperation across religions and cultures, diminishing violence, alleviating poverty, or protecting the environment.  The scholarship awards one student up to $10,000 for UCI fees and up to $6,000 to support the project costs.

Extend your international learning through Internships – UCDC
You've been abroad - now gain hands-on experience interning in a globally-focused internship in Washington D.C.  Internships are available in virtually any field, including internship sites such as Amnesty International, Interpol, Center for International Policy, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Citizens for Global Solutions, US State Department, and many, many more! Internship opportunities are also available in Sacramento (UCCS).

English Conversation Program Facilitator - Join for winter quarter!
Meet students from around the world.  Further your cultural insight, build relationships and appreciate our diverse campus community at ECP! Serve as an English Facilitator and assist international students with building their conversational English skills.  Each week, you will participate in one-on-one pairings, group activities and more. International Studies Club
The International Studies Club is an academic club designed to integrate students from all backgrounds who share a common interest in the global arena. From areas of public health assistance, governance and public policy to anthropology and culture, the club brings together diverse students interested in international affairs. 

Communication Club (conversation partners) - Join for the winter!
Be a conversation partner for a UCI Division of Continuing Education International Programs international student, January through March. Are you tired of talking about your time abroad with friends and family and seeing their eyes glaze over? Below are some ways for you to get a captive audience and share about your experiences with people who want to hear it.

  • Join Us on Facebook and InstagramShow UCI students what YOU did abroad! Post your photos, videos, blogs, stories, and more.  Share your experiences and inspire someone else to take their journey!
  • Be in the Student Spotlight on our home page.  We would love to include YOUR story.  Take a look at the short list of questions on EEE and respond to those that pertain to you.  These Student Spotlights motivate UC Irvine students of today and tomorrow to follow in your foot-steps and make the life-changing decision to study abroad!
