How & When to Apply to a Global Education Program

All UCI students are eligible to participate in global education opportunities including study, research, internship, and more if they meet UCI eligibility requirements for Student International Activities and take the below 2 steps.

  • Undergraduate students will be full-time, degree-seeking in good academic standing at the time of application and participation.
  • Graduate students will be making satisfactory progress toward the completion of their degree as defined by the UCI Graduate Council and the Graduate Division.
  • Students will not be on disciplinary or academic probation nor have any other student conduct sanction unfilled during the intended term abroad.
  • Any student under 18 will need parental/guardian consent.

Request UCI Campus Approval in UCIAbroad. The approval process ensures that the UCI eligibility requirements mentioned above are met. Final acceptance to engage in a global education program is not guaranteed until you have been accepted by your host institution or program provider (see step 2).

Only submit one (1) UCI Campus Approval per same term abroad. See the appropriate table below for the Study Abroad Center open dates and deadline dates based on program option.

AND…Don’t forget to apply for or renew your passport! All programs with travel will require that you have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your program end date. If you do not have a passport or it will expire less than 6 months after your program, apply for one now.
