Tips:

  • Complete lower-division writing prior to studying abroad.
  • The following courses must be taken at UCI: MGMT 101-110, 191W, and 130-series accounting emphasis courses.
  • Fulfill the International Business Requirement (D) via an approved UCEAP program. You do not necessarily need to take a business course to satisfy the requirement but consult with a School of Business advisor.
  • A maximum of two (2) study abroad courses may be taken towards the Business Administration electives requirement.
  • Consider taking Pre-Approved Upper-Division Business Electives.
  • You can submit a course substitution petition for courses that are not found on the pre-approved upper-division business electives document.  NOTE: You will need an Outlook account to be able to access this form. If you do not have an Outlook account, log in and access your account through your UCInetID, and reset your password here: https://applications.oit.uci.edu/PasswordChange/changePasswordAD.htm. For technical help with this, please reach out to oit@uci.edu.
  • Petitions are reviewed quarterly and due by Week 3, Friday at 5 pm. Faculty decisions will be released by the end of Week 1 of the following quarter. An attached syllabus is required. Contact the host institution to request syllabi or wait until you are enrolled in the course overseas to submit your request.
  • Students considering an Accounting career may not want to go abroad fall of junior year or their entire senior year due to internship and full-time recruiting activities.
