While in Taiwan, we wanted to light lanterns as it’s a pretty traditional thing to do there. We showed up to the train station where you could paint and send off lanterns and learned that the different lantern colors had different meanings. We chose white because it symbolized peace (and made for a good Instagram photo!) We paid for our lanterns and spent time painting them. This particular day was super sunny in Taiwan, but then as soon as we went to light the lantern, a torrential downpour started! Needless to say, it took us a few tries to send this one off. One of the women there said the rain would bring us good luck. We can only hope!
