Study Abroad Participants: Other UC Programs

Once you have submitted an application in UCIAbroad (link coming in early fall quarter), follow the instructions below:

  1. Read all the tabs below immediately and take action as needed.
  2. Read and save all emails you receive from the Study Abroad Center and your Other UC Program.
  3. Meet all deadlines.

Applying to your Other UC Program is a two-part process:

  1. Apply directly to your Other UC Program according to their instructions. Some programs may require forms to be completed by your home university or study abroad advisor.
    • For forms requiring disciplinary verification, contact the UCI Office of Student Conduct and request a Dean’s Certification.
    • All other forms can dropped off at the Study Abroad Center front desk and then picked up within 48 hours.
  2. Once you are admitted to your Other UC Program, complete the following and submit to the Study Abroad Center front desk:

To receive credit on Other UC Programs:

  • Be sure to review the information on our website regarding academics and finances for Other UC Programs.
  • Be sure to have your Other UC Program send your transcript directly to:

To fulfill degree requirements (major, minor, or GE) on an Other UC Program:

The types of financial aid available and process to follow varies by program. Review the details under “Finances” on our website to make sure studying abroad on an Other UC Program works for you.

As a participant on an Other UC Program, you are encouraged to attend a Country Orientation.  This info-packed orientation led by past participants will cover various topics specifically related to your host country. Offered only once. You will be notified via e-mail when your orientation has been scheduled.  All orientations are for current participants only – no guests will be permitted.

  1. It is critical that you read the information that pertains to you and follow the instructions on Health Insurance While Abroad.
  2. All UCI study abroad participants are strongly advised to Register for the UC Traveler Insurance.
  • It is FREE!  UC already pays the premiums for this insurance.  There is NO COST to UCI study abroad participants.
  • Coverage includes:
    • Toll free 24-hour hotline useful before and while abroad (e.g. questions about medications, feeling sick and have questions, there’s an emergency and have questions)
    • Emergency medical services (e.g. doctor referrals, emergency medical payments, emergency medical evacuation)
    • Emergency travel services (e.g. emergency cash, legal assistance, location of lost luggage or documents, security evacuation, interpreters)
    • Online access to country specific health info, trip preparation, inoculation requirements, weather conditions, travel advisories.
    • Receive security alerts via e-mail, text, or phone app
  • To have full access to these benefits, be sure to register!

If you decide that you can no longer participate on your Other UC Program, inform both the Other UC Program provider directly and the Study Abroad Center so we can update our records.
